A sculpture commissioned by the Nightingale Project. It consists of 10,000 hand-cut leaves suspended from a large skylight that covers a ten metre long corridor in the adult ward of the South Kensington and Chelsea Mental Health Centre.
The translucent leaves create an infinite variety of patterns in the space as they react not only to changes in the light and the seasons, but also to currents of the air, gently fluttering like leaves in a forest.
The work is intended to transform what was a dull corridor into a cheerful and soothing environment for the patients.
